10 Free Downloadable Tools For Video Editing

Video editing can be a very consuming task because of the amount of resources required such as hard drive storage, high computer performance and expensive software. It is also very time consuming for those that don’t know the basics of video editing, and takes the fun away from those wanting to learn.
Popular video editing software such as Adobe CS4 Production Premium costs $1,699.00 and Final Cut Studio 2 costs $1,299.00. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have that type of money lying around to spend just to learn video editing. Here is a great list that I compiled of free downloadable tools for video editing.
Avidemux
Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities.

VirtualDub
VirtualDub is a video capture program for editing with lots of features including: chocie of compression codecs, splitting, addition of audio tracks and more.

AVIEdit lets you join and split avi files, extract frames and do whatever else you’d like. You can capture video by a number of ways such as one-frame-per-minute, send videos to printer and heavy compress it and post it online.

Vivia is a video editing program for Linux and Windows that offers very user-friendly editing of DV video material.
